As the name suggests, lab grown diamonds are man made diamonds created in a lab. They are grown in highly controlled environments using technological processes to mirror the elements of a natural diamond. As they consist of carbon atom structures, lab diamonds exhibit the same physical, chemical and optical characteristics of a natural diamond produced by mother nature.

How are lab grown diamonds made?

Man made diamonds are grown in a lab by replicating the process that results in the creation of natural diamonds. They are created from tiny pieces of pre-existing diamonds, also known as the diamond seed. From here, the seed is placed in an advanced technological chamber, designed to mimic the conditions within the Earth’s crust. During this process, the seed is coated in pure carbon which will eventually transform into a synthetic diamond. Within a matter of weeks, a lab diamond, chemically identical to a natural diamond is produced.
