2018's Most Popular Cuts

As 2018 draws to a close, it has become clear that the year has seen the revival of many older diamond cuts. Jewellery stores throughout Sydney have been able to utilise classic diamond cuts in order to create some truly timeless engagement rings. However, there have been four cuts which have stood well above the rest, and we feel that these cuts should be known as a means of inspiration for anyone who’s planning to pop the question before the year ends.

The Round Brilliant Cut

Of the four cuts that are being exhibited, the round brilliant cut stands well above the other three, just as this exceptional cut continues to stand well above every other diamond cut there is. The reason that the round brilliant cut is such a successful diamond cut is because it is the quintessential diamond cut. It’s been developed so that it captures the best that diamonds have to offer – amplifying the diamond’s ability to refract light in a neat and timeless form.

Throughout Sydney, diamonds are being given the round brilliant cut so that they can be placed into engagement rings and other types of jewellery. At Armans Fine Jewellery, we’ve been able to capture the essence of the round brilliant cut diamond with our Imperial Halo Diamond Engagement Ring. This is a masterpiece crafted by Arman himself, sporting a spectacular 1.50-carat round brilliant cut diamond, encompassed by a halo of smaller round brilliant cut diamonds, all atop a dazzling, diamond-studded band. As well as this, this piece is accompanied by an equally beautiful diamond-studded band.

The Princess Cut

After the round brilliant cut comes the princess cut. The princess cut is similar to that of the round brilliant cut, but it has a square face rather than having a round face like the round brilliant cut. This gives the princess cut an appearance similar to that of an inverted pyramid, unlike the round brilliant cut, which has more of a conical shape. Despite this, the princess cut is still a spectacular diamond cut that is adored by a lot of people.

At Armans Fine Jewellery, we’ve been able to incorporate the princess cut into a truly stunning engagement ring – the Allure Princess Cut Diamond Engagement Ring. This piece holds an amazing 1.00-carat princess cut diamond that rests upon a sleek platinum band that tapered with an array of small round brilliant cut diamond that run delicately through the centre of the ring. With this ring, alongside our other fine jewellery pieces, we believe that our place as one of the leading jewellery stores in Sydney remains firmly cemented.

The Oval Cut

A cut that was developed at the turn of the 20th Century, the oval cut is actually a modified version of the round brilliant cut diamond, having a table shaped like an oval rather than a circle. As a result, this means that the oval cut boasts many illusory properties, such as having a greater surface area, therefore appearing larger than it actually is and the oval shape giving the impression that the wearer’s fingers are slenderer than they actually are.

At Armans Fine Jewellery, only Sydney’s finest diamonds end up being a part of our oval cut engagement rings. We’ve chosen to demonstrate this with our ‘Olivia Rose’ Diamond Engagement Ring. This illustrious piece sports a massive 1.00-carat oval cut diamond, held firmly in place within a 4-prong setting, all of which is placed carefully atop a diamond-studded band. This ring is also available for customisation, with the band and setting being available, in white gold, rose gold, or yellow gold.

The Pear Cut

Last, but certainly not least, we have the pear cut. The pear cut is a beautiful hybridisation of two different cuts, the round brilliant cut and the marquise cut. As a result, the pear cut is shaped like that of a teardrop of a pear, which is where it gets its name. As a hybrid cut, it exhibits many of the amazing qualities that are exhibited by its parent cuts, such as the round brilliant cut’s ability to refract light perfectly, and the marquise cut’s illusory properties, which includes making the wearer’s fingers appear longer than they actually are.

At Armans Fine Jewellery, we wanted to be able to capture all of the beauty and illusion that’s associated with the pear cut. As a result, we developed the Pear Allegra Diamond Engagement Ring. This beautiful piece is crafted by Arman himself, and boasts a stunning 1.2-carat pear cut diamond set into a glamourous diamond basket and placed atop a sensational diamond-studded band. This illustrious ring partners beautifully with an equally sensational diamond-studded wedding band, and perfectly displays the sheer beauty that only Sydney’s finest diamonds can exhibit.

2018 has seen some truly stunning diamond cuts grace some truly stunning engagement rings. At Armans Fine Jewellery, we strive to stay ahead of all of Sydney’s jewellery stores in terms of styles and quality.
