How Much Should you Spend on an Engagement Ring?

How Much Should you Spend on an Engagement Ring?

Many Aussies scratch their head looking at this question; What is the right price? How much should you spend on an engagement ring?

The answer is not really black and white, the question is similar to the age old question; How long is a piece of string? Well, it depends!

When shopping for a diamond engagement ring, your price range and ideals can be categorised into certain price ranges. To avoid any confusion we've done the hard work for you and summarised some things you may be seeing and hearing when on the search for the perfect ring. Here are some tips and tricks to consider when you're shopping;

Check the 4 C’s:

When looking for a ring, specifically a diamond, your price will vary when looking at the overall sense of the diamond itself. The diamonds impression can be split into four categories;

Cut, Colour, Carat and Clarity.

Cut:
A diamonds cut can be measured on a scale of excellent, very good, good, fair and poor. An excellent diamond will carry light into the stone and will shoot it back at the top.

Cut

Colour:
Did you know diamonds actually have subtle colour differences? This is caused by natural forces when the diamond is being formed in the earth potentially giving the ring a yellow or brown tone. A diamond that is colourless is considered to be the most rare and therefore valuable.

Colour
Carat:

A diamond is measured in its weight rather than its size. The higher the weight of the diamond the more carats it will be worth. It is more rare to have a large diamond therefore they are very sought after.

Carat

Clarity:
This refers to the diamond's purity. Crystals have the potential to form in the diamond when it is forming, creating small abrasions, sometimes unable to be seen by the naked eye. This is where its level of clarity comes into play.

Clarity
